An architect and engineer by training, Carlo Ratti is one of the most prominent researchers into how new technologies are changing the way we understand, design and live in cities. Carlo has co-authored more than 250 publications, holds several patents and has been praised as a major game changer by Time Magazine (featuring twice on the ‘Best Inventions of the Year’ list) and Wired (‘Smart List: 50 people who will change the world’). In addition to working at his practice in Italy and teaching at MIT’s Senseable City Lab, Carlo also chairs the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Future Cities.
Jonah joined IDEO, one of the most influential design companies worldwide, in 2000. Since then, he has led a broad range of systemic transportation projects, focusing on deploying the tools of human centered design inside companies to create a culture of innovation. He has imagined the future of security for the Department of Homeland Security as well as the future of urban transportation in 2030 for the U.N. Climate Change Conference. His project work has also gone inside the car to help Fiat “democratize connectivity” for their A/B level cars in South America.
